Am 2. Februar 2007 berichtet die britische Tageszeitung The Guardian, dass das American Enterprise Institute Wissenschaftler sucht, die den UN-Klimabericht widerlegen. Dazu hat das Institut ein Preisgeld von 10.000 US-Dollar ausgelobt:

The AEI (ExxonMobil-funded thinktank ) today made the front pages of the Guardian, which reported that the ExxonMobil-funded thinktank had been offering scientists and economists $10,000 each to undermine a report by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
